The Challenge
Our client saw a need in the video game market to establish an elite group of gamers. From Fortnite to Call Of Duty, they wanted to build competition teams for events all across the nation and sponsor some of the best gamers in Minnesota. They came to us to create an identity, develop a digital space with a sustaining e-commerce platform, and nurture an audience within the increasingly competitive and flourishing Minnesota eSports scene.
The Campaign
The soon-to-be Black Ice team came to us to help build an online presence for their eSports Competitive Academy. We began from scratch and created an identity around the client’s initial concepts. Our main goal was to appear as a non-traditional eSports team — simple yet clouded and complex. The final identity was distilled through several rounds of collaborative meetings and vision-setting discussions, yet ultimately reflected the concept of a safe, premium, and competitive eSports space.
From there, we nurtured social platforms, created cutthroat animations to introduce the players, and constructed a bespoke digital site to give both players and parents a space to learn and engage with the team directly. Players can become subscribing members while parents become subscribing supporters. Fueling into the notion that competitive gaming is a safe space where children and young adults can grow their talents and begin their first steps towards a successful career in Professional eSports.
