Hockey Kids4Kids Brings Twin Cities Youth Together to Raise Money

The Idea

Hiway Federal Credit Union decided to switch up their annual fundraiser to focus on raising funds for Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare. The goal was to encourage Twin Cities youth hockey leagues to find creative ways to raise $500 or more for the kids undergoing treatment at Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare.

The Campaign

The fundraiser offered a unique opportunity to share Hiway’s giving message as well as raise awareness of Gillette Children’s service to children and their families. By using #hockeykids4kids on Twitter, we were able to connect with the hockey teams, professional hockey players and our local hockey team and keep track of their progress and continue to encourage them to keep up their good work. We used social media to increase the buzz around the fundraiser, as well as using Facebook and Instagram ads to promote the campaign.

The Results

With all of the participating youth hockey teams, they were able to raise $10,000 for Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare in the inaugural year of this fundraiser. All teams who participated were able to have a free-skate on the Wild ice, and the winning team had a party in a suite during a hockey game and meet Wild goalie, Devin Dubnyk.

Our social media ads reached over 13,000 individuals in the Twin Cities and had over 3,000 post engagements on Facebook. Plus, a video feature from Fox Sports North was viewed 7,400 times.
